Centura Healths Porter Adventist Hospital Receives Trauma III Designation

(DENVER) Porter Adventist Hospital has received a Trauma III designation from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. As a Level III Trauma Center, Porter Adventist Hospital has enhanced its capabilities to stabilize and treat trauma patients. This includes patients with minor or moderate injuries and those who require emergency resuscitation, surgery or intensive care.

Working together with EMS, the emergency department at Porter Adventist Hospital will provide care coordination during transfer of trauma patients to their facility. As a part of the Centura Health Trauma System, the hospitals collaboration with other facilities in the network helps improve the overall system of care. Partnering with Flight For Life Colorado (the countrys first hospital-based air ambulance), eight hospital affiliates, and the regions largest EMS support system, patients of Porter Adventist Hospital have a unified continuum of care during the most critical time of need.

The decision to become a Level III Trauma center was derived from the needs of the community, as injuries continue to be the leading cause of death in the U.S. for people under the age of 44. Porter Adventist Hospitals designation means patients in the Denver Metro Area have additional access to better, faster, comprehensive medical care. As a Level III trauma center, the hospital is required to continually evaluate their standard of care through a rigorous performance improvement program. This process will not only improve outcomes for trauma patients, but all patients. Porter Adventist Hospital is the 15th Centura Health Trauma Center committed to providing specialty resources and improving clinical outcomes.
