It is no wonder that one of the biggest health care crisis facing the nation today is the availability of blood and blood products when they are needed.
St. Thomas More partners with the Penrose-St. Francis Blood Bank to ensure there is a safe and adequate blood supply for Canon City and Fremont County. In order to meet the needs of our patients, Penrose-St. Francis must collect 170-200 units every week. So, the need for blood donations is on-going. Blood cannot be manufactured, duplicated or produced outside of the human body. It can only be obtained through the volunteer efforts of healthy donors willing to give of themselves for the benefit of others.
If you are interested in becoming a blood donor, would like more information about blood donation, or would like to schedule an appointment to donate blood, contact the blood bank or visit our donor center.
