Porter Senior Psychiatric unit is dedicated to providing psychiatric hospitalization to those over 60 years of age. Patients can be treated for any one of a number of acute or chronic psychiatric conditions, including but not limited to: severe depression/suicidality, anxiety, psychosis, and bi-polar disorder. Knowing that many of our older patients will have chronic, and at times complex, medical problems, Porter Adventist Hospital's medical staff will provide initial admitting history and physical admission and concurrent medical coverage, as needed, during the hospital stay.

There may be many reasons why an individual may not meet criteria for admission to Porter Adventist Hospital Senior Psychiatric; however the most prevalent reason is a medical condition that is not able to be treated on a specialty psychiatric unit.
