Emergency Services at St. Thomas More Hospital

Emergency Health Care When You Need It

The St. Thomas More Emergency Department receives more than 17,000 visits each year. It is designated a Level IV trauma care unit and is accessible by Flight For Life helicopter. It is staffed 24 hours a day by skilled physicians, mid-level practitioners and nurses, who also work in partnership with nearby hospitals in Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Denver when necessary to transport patients requiring a higher level of care.

The St. Thomas More Trauma Unit  formed the Royal Gorge Emergency Medical Specialists (RGEMS) inJuly of 2010. This core group of physicians, trained specifically on emergency medicine, provides a consistent and strong ED/Trauma team specially focused on our community.

Our not-for-profit designation means that we treat anyone who walks in our doors, regardless of ability to pay.

St. Thomas More now offers a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) program. Our emergency department has a designated SANE unit.
