    Our team of experts has expanded to meet the growing orthopedic needs of our great community. All of our board-certified orthopedic surgeons treat patients with a variety of traumatic and ongoing joint problems at their newly renovated orthopedic services clinic located at 933 Sells Avenue in Canon City. Together, they specialize in sports medicine, shoulder and knee arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, total knee and hip replacement, ACL reconstruction and corrective surgery of the hand and foot.

  • Lee McFadden

    Lee A. McFadden, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon, FAAOS who has joined St. Thomas More Orthopaedic Services. Dr. McFadden works specifically with hip and knee arthritis, sports injuries and trauma. He is currently accepting new patients. The clinic accepts most insurance including United Health Care, Blue Cross, Humana, Tri- Care, Medicaid and Medicare.

    Dr. McFadden grew up in Woodridge, Illinois. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. He has 26 years of commissioned service as an engineer, medical service corps, and medical corps officer in the U.S. Army. He attended medical school at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He completed residency at Tripler Army Medical center in Honolulu, Hawaii, and fellowship training in total hip and total knee replacement in 2005.

    Dr. McFadden retired from military service as a Colonel in 2013. Both he and his wife, Janice, have served overseas in a combat theater - Dr. McFadden in Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Janice in Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield.

    Together, they have four children. In their spare time, Dr. McFadden and Janice enjoy watching their children participate in wrestling, soccer, and lacrosse.

    Keith MinihaneDr. Keith Minihane is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon who treats patients with a variety of traumatic or long-standing musculoskeletal problems. He joined us in November 2013, is accepting new patients and providing care at the St. Thomas More Orthopedic Clinic in Canon City.

    Dr. Minihane earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and his Medical Degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL where he graduated with honors. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Internship at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, and his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Northwestern University in Chicago.

    Having served in the United States Army as an orthopedic surgeon, he provided care for soldiers and their families in Ft. Carson, CO and South Korea. He was also deployed to Afghanistan. Most recently, he was the sole orthopedic surgeon in a rural community in Illinois.

    Dr. Minihane and his wife met while he was stationed at Ft. Carson, and were married in Colorado. They are excited to be back in beautiful Colorado to be closer to family and the outdoors. During his free time, he enjoys hiking, biking, snowboarding, cooking, woodworking, and spending time with family.

    Dr. PattersonDr. Jacob Patterson, M.D., is an Orthopedic Surgeon, FAAOS who has joined St. Thomas More Orthopaedic Clinic in Canon City. Dr. Patterson has practiced in Canon City since 1991 has established a lasting relationship with our community. Dr. Patterson is currently accepting new patients in our orthopedic clinic. We accept most insurance including United Health Care, Blue Cross, Humana, Tri-Care, Medicaid and Medicare.

    Dr. Patterson earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Trinity College and a Master’s Degree from Texas A & M University. He earned his medical degree and completed his orthopedic training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. In 1991 he joined practice with Dr. Eric Carlson in Canon City. Together they provided continuous, quality orthopedic care and emergency coverage to our community for 25 years. Dr Patterson’s goal is to maintain the respect of his patients, colleges and co-workers.

    Dr. Patterson’s wife Marion is a certified registered operating room nurse and surgical first assistant who works with him in the office and the operating room. Together they share 5 children and two grandchildren. They enjoy golfing, horses, hunting, music, bicycling, family and time together outdoors.

    Eve TurkingtonEve Schoenefeld is a Certified Physician Assistant who has joined St. Thomas More Orthopaedic Clinic in Canon City. Eve treats a variety of orthopedic conditions and is accepting new patients. We accept most insurance including United Health Care, Blue Cross, Humana, Tri-Care, Medicaid and Medicare.

    In 2001, Eve graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Christians Brothers University, where she also played on the women’s soccer team for four years. Eve earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in Chemistry from Louisiana State University and her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Our Lady of the Lake College. Eve has many years of experience working as a Physician Assistant in Orthopedics, Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, and Army Medicine. Eve proudly serves as a Captain and Physician Assistant in the United States Army National Guard. She provided care for soldiers during her deployments to Kabul Afghanistan in 2012 and 2013 and Belize in 2014.

    Eve and her fiancé met in Afghanistan and are looking forward to be married in Colorado in 2016. It has been a long time dream to live in Colorado and they are enjoying all the outdoor activities this beautiful area has to offer. In their spare time they enjoy snowboarding, cooking, traveling, cross fit, time with friends and family, and hiking with their two dogs.

    My belief is that the relationship between patient and provider is one of teamwork. It is my responsibility to provide patients with the most accurate information possible about their condition or injury and the patient’s responsibility to take an active role in their recovery. A healthy lifestyle is key to a successful recovery. When a patient comes to see us, they bring more than an injury or condition; they bring their expectations, individual needs, and personal experience. That’s why a caring relationship with patients and families is paramount to everything we do. We have the medical knowledge. The patient has the experience and expertise of knowing their own body. It is my goal to educate the patient and their family as the family is the best source of emotional support and information that can help with recovery. By working together can we improve our patient’s well-being and provide the best possible treatment.
