  • Marsha Bell, RN

I started my career in 1980 working as a nurse’s aide at a local nursing home. While working as a CNA, I went back to school and obtained my LPN license. After working at this level for several years, I obtained my Associates degree in nursing through Pueblo Community College and Excelsior College. I am currently in school again and only 2 classes away from obtaining my BSN through Chamberlain College of Nursing.

My experience includes working in the emergency room, obstetrics, Med/Surg and ICU all at St. Thomas more Hospital over the last 27 years, also in the time frame; I worked as the manager for the Continuing Care program out of St. Thomas More. Where I supervised 18 CNA’s and personal care providers while they went into the homes and cared for over 80 clients on our services providing cooking, cleaning, transportation and personal care.

My teaching experience includes BLS CPR instructor for 10 years, also for the last 2 years, I have taught Health Living Colorado classes, a program that helps empower people living with chronic conditions in taking an active role in managing their own health. Also taught the continuing education classes to the CNAs and PCPs under the continuing care program.

I am so looking forward to teaching this very importation and much needed class. I am committed to getting my students beyond prepared to take State Boards, and become the best CNA’s Possible.

Sonya Terrain, RNSt. Thomas More Hospital has been my place of employment since 2006.  As an RN at STM Hospital I have been privileged with many learning opportunities. Work experience includes working on the Medical/Surgical unit for 9 years, the last 6 years serving as Charge RN/Nurse Manager. Occasional floats to other Nursing Departments provided diversity and experience in other areas of nursing. In 2015, I joined the Staff Development team at STM and continue to serve there at this time as an RN Educator and Developer. Prior to my career at STM, I worked in Oncology. Currently, I am in pursuit of my MSN in Leadership and Management and plan to graduate in 2017.
